Seems like yesterday I was filling bags to try to ward off the damage sure to come with Superstorm Sandy. Try as I might her wrath was greater than the make shift wall of sand bags that lined Barnegat Bay. Just a small community of about (50) homes in Mantoloking, New Jersey we had never experienced such destruction.
As I watched my house, what was left of it, be demolished by cranes and dozers where seagulls and surf once resided. I couldn’t help but feel a sense of utter desperation and complete loss of all things dear to me.
That’s when I noticed something protruding from one of the bags I had laid to ward off this unwanted lady of doom. As I approached to confirm my suspicion I grew weak in the knees at the sight before me. It appears while Sandy took my home, she left me more than a million dollars in gold doubloons in one of the bags of sand that had broken open. Looks like things are going to be alright after all.
